Ashurst Beacon LLC was formed by John A. Dawson in 2013 upon his retirement from Ernst & Young LLP. John has worked as a property & casualty actuary for more than 40 years, with the 25 of those years as a partner and consulting actuary in Ernst & Young’s Insurance & Actuarial Advisory Services practice. At Ernst & Young, Mr. Dawson performed a wide-variety of actuarial services including:
- Coordinating and leading actuarial teams across the globe on financial audits of property/casualty insurance companies.
- Providing actuarial consulting services to multitude of U.S., Canadian, Bermuda and Cayman Island based clients including insurance companies, self-insured entities, captives and self-insured groups
- Providing support services to the Massachusetts Division of Insurance in its financial examination of numerous domestic insurance companies.
- Serving as appointed actuary for numerous U.S. insurance companies.

John is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (“FCAS”) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (“MAAA”). As such, he is qualified to provide actuarial services related to property & casualty risks.
